Monkey tree top trail

The Monkey Tree Top Trail literally takes you into the tree tops, at monkey level. The entrance to the trail is situated past the Bushbaby Kiosk, along the second part of the route.

In the winter of 2011, a lot of hard work was put into making the Monkey Tree Top Trail even more fun and exciting. For instance, a large nocturnal monkey house was added and it has recently become home to several new species of monkeys. These monkeys roam freeamongthe visitors. So you do really get to meet the animals from right up close.

Nocturnal monkeys

Along the Monkey Tree Top Trail, in the nocturnal monkey house, you get to admire douroucoulis. They have huge eyes and are most active … in the dark. They have no trouble seeing you in the half-light. But can you spot these monkeys just as easily?

Red howlers

There is a new monkey species at Apenheul: red howlers. They roam free along the Monkey Tree Top Trail. So you get to meet them up close and the red howlers have a large forest to climb and clamber. Just like you.

Because along the Monkey Tree Top Trail, you can go ape on the wobbly bridges and rope ladders.

And so much more

Along the Monkey Tree Top Trail, you also roam free among white-faced sakis, Goeldi’s monkeys and emperor tamarins. In addition, you will meet different types of birds, warthogs and beautifully coloured frogs. Plus, you also get to see different types of sturgeons swimming in the trench. And at this height you will, of course, enjoy a fabulous view of part of the park!
